Quest implemented its solution, replacing a competing platform, to deliver dual-factor authentication of remote users at a lower cost and with zero impact to users. Seamless collaboration across Quest, Microsoft, and a key systems integrator partner enabled the Active Directory migration to be completed quickly and with no system downtime. Quest Software solutions have enhanced thousands of enterprise Active Directory environments, including Dell, Movado, Siemens, ADT, and Shell.

Compugen was chosen for its unique approach to using a wide variety of Microsoft technologies in its desktop deployment solutions, along with its successful marketing efforts and high levels of customer satisfaction.

Business Intelligence Partner of the Year
Solver, United States
Solver created a business intelligence solution to help state and local governments track performance according to stated goals, reduce costs, improve business processes, and increase government accountability and citizen satisfaction. This scalable solution was built leveraging the full stack of business intelligence tools from Microsoft, including Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server, Microsoft Office Excel, and many Microsoft Dynamics business management software products. With this solution, Solver was able to help the Chicago Department of Public Health maximize its grants, reduce costs, and increase revenue. Because the solution was delivered through a software-plus-services model and hosted for the city of Chicago, it reduced infrastructure costs and resulted in a quicker implementation time.

Citizenship Partner of the Year
Koenig Solutions, India
Koenig Solutions is working to alleviate unemployment and poverty in Delhi, India, through technology training and education. A Microsoft Gold Certified Partner for Learning Solutions, Koenig Solutions conducts Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer training in the evenings for unemployed adults at no charge. The company has adopted the microcredit system for voluntary repayment after candidates start a job. Through the program, 120 adults found skilled jobs in 2008, and Koenig aims to double its capacity next year. Koenig Solutions also provides tutoring and computer literacy classes to 250 students and has seen a decrease in dropout rate and significant improvement in grades. The community provides space for the classes, and teachers and parents encourage their children to attend. Corporate social responsibility is a key priority for Koenig Solutions, and the company is committed to supporting and expanding projects that have a positive impact on its local community.

The solution shows how the software-plus-services model creates a multiplier effect—when client and server systems are combined for the benefit of the user and the organization, it results in new ways of working in a range of industries. The core application is available on the Internet as a free download and has a business model based on usage measured by data synchronization. This solution clearly demonstrates what can be accomplished by experimenting with business models.

This system provides the best of the Web, rich clients, mobile, and back-end server systems. With its ability to combine these platforms, L3 has proven to be a very important partner in the Microsoft ecosystem, and L3 was recently recognized as a key partner by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

The solution is made up of two systems designed to support Wisenbaker Builder Services. The first, VEO Concierge, is a Web-based system leveraging the Microsoft Silverlight browser plug-in to engage new home buyers and home owners who are planning home-improvement projects. In addition to being available in design centers, the plan is to make VEO Concierge available as an Internet-based, self-service solution for home buyers. The second system, VEO, built with Windows Presentation Foundation, is for estimators who need to generate and assign material quantities for flooring, wall, and countertop bills of material..The impact of these applications on Wisenbaker and its customers has been significant, creating greater productivity for estimators, increased revenue, and closer relationships with customers and partners.

The rapid benefits achieved by using OnPoint are attractive to customers in today’s challenging economy, and its applicability spans multiple industries—from government and telecommunications firms to transportation companies.

AKQA developed a solution for Ferrari that provided exceptional design, increased developer productivity by 30 percent, and satisfied rigorous accessibility compliance requirements. In another project, AKQA used Windows Live Maps to provide an innovative user experience to locate Nike-sponsored soccer games. It has also used SQL Server 2008 and .NET 3.5 for the data management of the Fiat eco:Drive solution. Leveraging in-house tools and resources such as the total cost of ownership tool, renewals desk, licensing quoting tool, and new benefits calculator, Workgroup has cultivated a systematic and process-driven renewals business that accounts for nearly 50 percent of its Microsoft revenue. Workgroup has also joined with local Microsoft resources and a third-party training company to deliver a series of reseller-facing workshops designed to promote Microsoft solution and licensing knowledge. The company led a campaign that uses resellers’ Microsoft purchase history to assist them in offering new solutions to their end customers.

By demonstrating the value of Microsoft licensing expertise, software life-cycle asset management skills, and professional services, Dimension Data has seen the highest year-over-year growth in its market. It has driven significantly higher desktop deployments by using a creative sales approach to large customers. When Dimension Data identified a challenge with its customers’ continued investment in Software Assurance, it implemented the Microsoft Home Use Program. This single benefit redemption helped support technology adoption across 22,567 desktops, proving the value of continuing with Software Assurance and maintaining Enterprise Agreements (EAs) through a calculated benefit to customers of Aus$1.2 million. In addition, Dimension Data further quantified the value of training days and cold back-up servers to secure the highest rating of satisfaction for its customers. The integration reduced the time required for a service representative to reach physicians and caretakers, which resulted in better service to patients and increased the growth opportunity for the provider. Switching to Office Communications Server R2 and Exchange Unified Messaging (UM) from a competing solution, Enabling was able to provide better integration capabilities with Office SharePoint Server and lower total cost of ownership through the purchase of enterprise client access licenses (CALs). Enabling has demonstrated expertise in deploying Microsoft unified communications technologies and has the ability to combine any or all of the unified communications applications based on its customers’ needs. To date, Enabling has implemented more than 75 unified communications deployments of the solution.

Intrinsic Technologies helped Albany International Corp., a global manufacturer, slash international toll charges through the use of Voice over IP (VoIP), reduce travel through alternative communications, and consolidate voice mail and private branch exchange (PBX) infrastructure to a single platform for more than 5,000 users across 34 locations and 14 countries. Albany saved an estimated US$3.2 million and 18 months on deployment time compared to a replacement of all Cisco PBXs and end-point phones. This solution included Exchange Server 2007 Unified Messaging to deliver inbound faxing and reduce total cost of ownership on voice-mail systems, Microsoft RoundTable devices and Tandberg video conferencing for seamless audio and video experience, Office Communications Server, and Office Communicator as the primary end point to replace PBX phones.
