About Jon Roskill:
As head of the Worldwide Partner Group at Microsoft, Jon Roskill is responsible for Microsoft's worldwide channel strategy for Microsoft’s commercial products and cloud offerings. In this capacity, Roskill leads a global sales & marketing team comprised of 5,000 employees and Microsoft’s 640,000 independently owned-and-operated partner companies, a channel which drives 95% of Microsoft’s annual revenue. Roskill leads the effort to activate Microsoft’s diverse partner ecosystem, which includes distributors, system integrators, value-added resellers, independent software vendors, and web application developers, to Microsoft’s new cloud offerings.
Prior to assuming his current role, Roskill was the Corporate Vice President, US Business & Marketing Office (BMO) for Microsoft, North America. In this role, Roskill led the teams responsible for all marketing activities for Microsoft's Commercial products (Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office etc., all product lines except Xbox & MSN/advertising) which collectively generate >$12b of revenue annually. He also managed a team of 80 technical and database analytics professionals who deliver the Microsoft Worldwide Digital Marketing Platform and associated analysis & analytic models. During this tenure, he provided thought leadership and direction to bringing Microsoft’s industry-leading Cloud Computing initiatives to market. Before taking a leadership role in launching Microsoft’s US Subsidiary and leading the BMO, Jon was General Manager of Developer and .NET Enterprise Server marketing, where he led a team responsible for the product management and product marketing of the industry-leading products such as Microsoft SQL Server database software, Commerce Server, BizTalk Server Microsoft Visual Studio.
Prior to beginning his career at Microsoft in 1993, Roskill was a Marketing Manager at Digital Equipment Corporation, where he worked on projects including the Digital AlphaPC and Digital's Fault Tolerant line of computers, beginning in a role as CPU Designer before making the switch from Engineering to Marketing.
